Just like many places of the house, bathrooms are very dangerous places for children. There are many things you can do to make the bathroom a safer place for your child. Here are some bathroom safety rules:

  • Never allow your children into a bathroom without you.
  • Remove sharp objects from the bathroom completely.
  • Keep medicines out of reach.
  • Use a non-slip mat to prevent falling.
  • Never, under any circumstance, leave your child alone in the bath.

Another way to keep your baby safe in the future is to constantly be teaching them about different safety measures. Being an example is one of the most effective ways to teach children how to avoid accidents. As your child gets older and begins to use the bathroom by himself or herself, teach them even more about steps they can take to keep safe. This includes why they should not take your medication, what different products do, how to make sure the bath water is not too hot, and more. Effectively teaching your child will take several years, but every time you take them into the bathroom provides another chance for a lesson.
