Car booster seats are placed on the regular car seats so that they children can properly, and safely sit in the car after they have outgrown baby car seats. Car booster seats will allow the cars safety belt protect children when they get in car accidents. For maximum safety, your child should remain in a car safety seat before moving to a booster seat. When your child can begin to sit in a booster seat, one of the following will be true:
- Child reaches the top weight or height allowed for the seat or harness
- Child's shoulders are above the harness slots
- Child's ears have reached the top of the seat
Obviously, if your child has not reached this point, they should remain in the car booster seat. Riding in the car with a normal seatbelt when your child is not tall enough can be extremely dangerous, and even fatal. By using a car booster seat, even when your child does not want to, you are making sure they remain safe.
