All backyard pools or community pools should have certain safety precautions. Thousands of children die every year in pools, and it simple does not have to be that way. With precaution and common sense, drowning deaths can be prevented. Pools should always be surrounded by a fence with a locked gate. No child should ever be allowed to play in or near a pool without direct adult supervision. If you have a backyard pool, all children should not only know how to swim, but also know what to do in case of emergency. Another important step in protecting your children from accidents in the pool is installing a pool alarm. Pool alarms are useful in a variety of different ways. Some pool alarms will sound if a child ventures past the gate and near the water. Other pool alarms require a child to wear a water-proof bracelet. If the child gets too close to the water, or fall into the water, a pool alarm will sound. Pool alarms can also be used as a sort of invisible fence, sounding any time somebody crosses the laser motion detector. Pool alarms are usually not very expensive, and pool alarms are wise and important investments in the safety of your children.
